Lyceum Theatre, London: May 7th 1984

Alyceum98nother early cassette bootleg yields this very nice recording of the show in the Lyceum. There’s buckets of information in the Gigography section here, including an NME review, but one interesting aspect of this show in comparison to, say, the Lancaster one, was that despite a long attempt by the audience to get an encore, nothing was forthcoming. Maybe Paddy was annoyed about something?

Once again, Virginia Astley guests on keyboards.

  1. I was lucky enough to be at this one Tim along with my manc pal Hugh Garry. We were front stage, from what I remember there was some problem towards the end with Neil Conti’s bass drum pedal thingy, he tried for an age to fix it, Paddy was clearly upset & a tad annoyed. Hugh & I managed to get upstairs to the after party, we did this a lot back in the day, a glum looking Martin Mcaloon was there with folded arms alongside a large expensive looking hamper of fruit as I recall, Nick Heyward & Pete Townsend were also there desperate to meet the band but Paddy had done one, great work tho once again Tim, can’t wait to give this a good blast…
