Mark Byrne, Atlantic 252 – June 1992

Atlantic 252 was an Irish radio station, but being on long wave was widely listened to in the UK and even in mainland Europe. The station made great efforts to make people believe it was a UK rather than Irish station, to the point where Mick Lynch remembers being asked to say he lived in Belfast rather than Dublin when entering a phone competition.

This recording – another from the “Jane P” stash – is mostly an interview with Paddy conducted by Mark Byrne, one of the regular DJs on the station. Who, incidentally, was later to leave radio and become a pilot for Ryanair. There is also Paddy doing a short insert promo for the station.
