Here’s a wonderful discovery: a short interview from Norwegian TV featuring Paddy and Keith, which also happens to be the earliest video interview I know of, from Autumn 1984.
The whole show – mostly in English – is well worth a look too, featuring great images of the NME office and an interview with Paul Weller. There is an increasing amount of video available to view on non-UK broadcaster archive sites – Spanish TVE is good, as is the French INA – and we can only hope the BBC follows suit eventually.
But here’s the segment featuring Prefab Sprout. And possibly the only TV showing anywhere of the “Don’t Sing” video? Don’t be alarmed by the initial burst of Culture Club, it’s a lead in to Paddy’s reflections on music.
