11 Motels

Most of us will be curious to know what it means to live the Rock ‘N’ Roll lifestyle on a tour of some of the most appropriately sized venues in the UK. The sights, the sounds, the smells of a hard working band on the road.

Well, thanks to John Birch, and his copy of the 2000 Tour diary, we get a lot more than that. Ten years on from their last tour, Prefab Sprout was going strong, and they’d earned a distinguished place in rock history as one of England’s quietest bands. Let’s take advantage of the gap day between the Coventry and Glasgow gigs to have a close look at the moderately comfortable and reasonably priced hotels to which they retired each night.

(Should anyone wish to become a pilgrim on the Sprout trail, mouse over the picture to get a caption showing the place and hotel name, then clicking on each photo will present a useful “TripAdvisor” hotel review).
