I was at this one, my first Sprouts gig. I was already utterly enamoured of the band at this point and it was a just a glorious night. I recall Paddy making a joke about playing songs from their new album ‘Seven and the Ragged Tiger’. Spinning Belinda, which I hadn’t heard before at that point was just fabulous.
Hurrah were OK but had a way of maintaining a studied aloofness which seemed a bit juvenile. I did laugh though when the singer introduced a song, the crowd cheered and he responded by saying “I don’t know why you’re cheering, you’ve never heard it before”.
